Director of Nursing/Manager for Clinical Strategy & Development, Older Persons Services, Dublin CHO DNCC

Rachel is currently working as the Director of Nursing/Clinical Strategy for older person’s services in
the Community Healthcare Organisation of Dublin City and County. Previously Rachel managed four
separate Community Nursing Units and 6 day care facilities for older persons.

Rachel completed her nurse training in London and began her nursing career in acute medical
admissions. She then moved into the area of discharge planning and patient flow (Bed Management)
before moving back to Ireland in 2003. From 2003 to 2007, she worked as a tutor delivering FETAC
Level 5 courses in Health care. In 2007, she moved back to nursing where she has stayed in Older
persons care. She has a passion for ensuring that older persons living in the community receive
person centred care aligned with the vision of Slaintecare and has a keen interest in improving
services for persons with a diagnosis of dementia.

Rachel has worked with HSE Social care division advising the Service Improvement Teams regarding
appropriate staffing and skill mix for public residential services for older people and is currently the Honorary Treasurer of IADNAM.

Rachel completed her BSc (Hons) in Nurse Management in 2010 in the RCSI and has completed her
MSc in Health informatics in September 2019 in UL.
